A prayer said for the window
Look out a while into the night
Beyond the artists and flutes caging wine
The bleeding white and the smirking ermine
A smaller measure of ‘all that’
A dainty hand on a shiver sat
And the cracks on the outside wall
The grey flecks and spatters recall
A minute passes a passer by
That an eternity among us may die
And the window looks out on
Two worlds that may never meet
A life is a barrier, not a bridge
And we still need a point of view...
Fear, hope, disdain and a tear.
